He has signed a one-year contract with the League One club Chesterfield
Evans will earn less than £2,000-a-week, a fraction of his previous salary
Former Sheffiedl United player Ched Evan, will make a return to football after signing a one-year deal with Chesterfield.
The Striker who was recently cleared of his rape conviction, has agreed a deal believed to be worth around £2,000-a-week and will be part of their pre-season training on July 1.
On signing for the League One club, Evans said: ‘I am very excited and privileged to be resuming my career at Chesterfield and I hope to make a valuable contribution both on and off the pitch for the football club, the fans and the community.’
Evans is free of any conviction after a Court of Appeal hearing quashed the original verdict.
However, it is understood that Chesterfield will review the situation if he is found guilty at the retrial.
Before the whole rape charges, Evans was earning around £20,000 a week at United. In addition, he was a regular starter with Wales haven won 13 caps scoring 1 goal.
Its believed that his £2,000 a week deal with Chesterfield can rise with bonuses for hitting goal targets.
In April 2012 Evans was jailed, following his trail at Crown Court in Caernarfon. He was released midway through his five year sentence on October 17th, 2014. He steadfastly maintained his innocence and the conviction was quashed after a referral by the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
